Dear SUA Community,
The big news this week is that Dr. Lisa Damour is coming - virtually - to Saint Ursula Academy! Dr. Damour is a nationally recognized psychologist and New York Times bestselling author of The Emotional Lives of Teenagers, Under Pressure, and Untangled. Dr. Damour was also the consultant for Pixar on Inside Out 2. She knows teenagers! If you would like to learn more about her work, HERE is Dr. Damour’s bio.
In addition to knowing teenagers, Dr. Damour knows SUA - through prior speaking engagements and her collaborations with the Ursuline Education Network (UEN). She will be speak across several sessions with students, parents/guardians, and faculty and staff. A common theme of Dr. Damour’s presentations to all three groups is “courageous conversations” and how they build connections and community. She will emphasize with our students how sharing their authentic voice strengthens relationships and deepens our sisterhood.
The parent/guardian presentation is Thursday evening, October 2, 7-8 pm. The specific topic of her presentation is one that will resonate with all parents/guardians navigating the teenage years with a young woman they love: Courageous Conversations: How to Talk to Girls about Delicate Topics and Everything Else.
Dr. Damour’s presentation is sure to offer insight and guidance and will be well worth your time. It is not too late to join us. Here is the info that you will need:

Speaking of our strong SUA community, one of the many things I love about SUA is how intentionally we foster sisterhood through our non-academic programming. Led entirely by our amazing Student Council, a Talent Show last Thursday gave students the opportunity to shine and support one another in a fun and meaningful way. The assembly had an especially memorable surprise ending when the faculty and staff broke out into a flash mob. The moment became even more special when many of our students, led by our spirited seniors, jumped in to join them. Those times of fun and being together lift our spirits and remind us how awesome our community really is.
Go Bulldogs!
