Dear SUA Community,
These have been big weeks for our Bulldogs in athletics, so I want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and successes of our amazing student athletes:
- Last week, Lexi Mendenhall competed in the State Diving Championships, making it to the finals and finishing in 13th place. She was the 2nd highest finisher from the Southwest District. Way to go, Lexi!
- Last Thursday, our Bowling Team finished its season at Districts. Great job, BowlDawgs!
- Our Basketball Team also finished out the season last week. Thank you for a great season, HoopDawgs!
- On Friday, the AquaDawg swimmers began their State Meet with fantastic prelims swims.
- On Saturday, the AquaDawgs continued their stellar performances at the State Meet. The swimmers made the finals in many of their individual and relay events, earning top 10 finishes in many events. The 200 medley relay team, composed of Aubrey Buchanan, Riley Kleinfelder, Cecilia Grossman, and Ali Sadri, earned 2nd place and broke the school record! The team ultimately finished in 3rd place! Fantastic job, AquaDawgs!
- Our indoor track and field team heads to State this weekend. Participants in the 4X800 relay are Peyton Denton, Caroline Josshua, Brianna Renn, and Emily Schlessman (Alternate: Kathleen Keehn). Pole Vaulter Rachel Johannesmeyer will also be competing for the Bulldogs! Best wishes to all in the State meet!
The Winter Formal was held this past Saturday in the SUA Gym, and it was an incredible evening. With 889 attendees, Winter Formal remains the largest student event hosted on SUA’s campus, and it is entirely organized and executed by our SUA Student Council. Student Council truly put their leadership in action to make an event of this size happen in such a successful manner. More than 82% of our student body was in attendance and having fun together, a wonderful testament to the strength and spirit of the SUA sisterhood. We appreciate all who represented our mission and school so well by their mature, respectful behavior.
This week, we reminded students in the Sunday Message of some important safety expectations. These exist as student and campus safety are our highest priority. I am sharing them with you so that you are also aware and can reinforce at home.
- Students are not permitted to access their cars during the school day without first checking in with Mrs. Bacon. On the rare occasion students need to retrieve something from their car, they must let Mrs. Bacon know before accessing their vehicle.
- Students are not allowed to order food delivery during the school day. Food delivery services invite strangers onto our campus and are a safety concern. Students are also not permitted to be off-campus during the school day to pick up orders in adjacent areas, as these are also obvious safety concerns.
- As always, students are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and to remain off their cell phones while walking. Situational awareness is a critical life skill that we want the students to practice for their safety here and beyond SUA.
Congratulations again to the student athletes, and thank you for your partnership in supporting our students’ safe choices.
Go Bulldogs!
