Dear SUA Community,

One of the distinguishing characteristics of Saint Ursula Academy is how academic excellence is combined with a focus on whole-person development.  Developing thinkers, leaders, nurturers, and prophets is a key component of our mission and the goal of much academic and non-academic programming.  One recent example of this commitment in action was our first Women in Business Expert Panel, an evening designed to inspire students as they consider their future paths.

Held on March 12, the event brought together accomplished women from a variety of professional fields to share their journeys, challenges, and lessons learned along the way. Students heard from panelists whose careers span multiple industries, including an employer-side HR attorney and partner, an entrepreneur, a government relations lobbyist, a neuroscience executive coach, and a vice president of marketing and client strategy. Each speaker shared how her career evolved, often in very unexpected ways. A common theme was the importance of resiliency, curiosity, and confidence when pursuing one's goals.

The evening also featured a keynote address from Diane Carr, a retired intelligence officer from the Central Intelligence Agency and an SUA graduate.  Diane spoke about the value of lifelong learning and integrity in both her professional and personal life.  She encouraged students to trust their abilities and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.

One of the best features of the event was the fact that the Women in Business Club members initially imagined this evening.  They proposed it to their moderator, Lelia Kramer, and brought the event to life.  They were exercising their own leadership skills in connecting peers with accomplished alumnae and professionals.   We are grateful to all who participated in the Women in Business Expert Panel, as it inspired our students to recognize the many ways they can use their gifts to lead and serve in the world.
