Dear SUA Community,
I would like to begin by recognizing and congratulating our juniors and seniors who attended Prom last Friday evening. Our students were kind, polite, and genuinely appreciative for one another, our guests, and the chaperones. Many took the time to personally thank those who helped make the evening possible. This spirit of gratitude and care is at the heart of our SUA sisterhood. Moments like these are a powerful reminder of the exceptional young women who make up our community.
As this Parent Bulletin reaches you, we are less than one week away from the start of exams on Tuesday, April 28. There is a noticeable shift in energy throughout the building as we approach the end of the semester, and we recognize that this can be a time of increased stress for students. Our Counseling Team continues to provide support during this period. Mrs. Jenna Wilker, our Student Success Coordinator, has been sharing a daily “tip” with students to help them stay organized, focused, and prepared. Her initial communication also included resources to guide students in creating effective and manageable study plans.
A much appreciated element of our current schedule is the inclusion of dedicated “office hours” during WIN time (“What I Need”) on Mondays and Wednesdays. This time is intentionally designed for students to receive individualized support from teachers. Learning how to seek help and ask questions to get what one needs is an essential skill, necessary in college and beyond. In addition, members of the National Honor Society are offering peer tutoring opportunities this week on a “drop in” basis, providing another option for academic support.
Mrs. Wilker shared an important reminder that is worth repeating: “Exams are not about perfection; they are about progress. You have been learning and growing all semester, and this is your opportunity to demonstrate what you know.” Keeping this perspective at the forefront can help students approach exams with confidence and a healthy mindset, while encouraging a sense of ownership of their own learning.
In the week ahead, there are a few other culminating activities celebrating the accomplishments of our students:
Thank you for all of the ways you support your daughter during this time of year.
Go Bulldogs!
Kathy
