Parent Bulletin

Dear SUA Community,

We can all likely remember those special individuals who touched our lives in profound ways when we were students ourselves.  They may have been a teacher, staff member, counselor, or coach.  These individuals may have invested in us, supported us, challenged us in new ways, inspired us, or saw something in us that we did not yet see at that time.  We hold them fondly in our memories, and we can vividly recount how our lives changed as a result of their care for us.

As we end the year, I encourage you to take some time to talk with your daughter and listen for insights into who these people are or have been in her life.  While you may already know her response, it would be interesting to learn more about their impact as she grows.

Saint Ursula Academy is so blessed to have outstanding teachers and staff members who are dedicated to the students and the mission of our school.  The first week in May is traditionally our Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week.  I know our plates are overflowing with things to do this time of year, but I encourage you to take a minute to thank a teacher or staff member who has been especially important or helpful to your daughter.  A brief note or email would mean the world to these people.  I guarantee you that each person keeps a file of such notes and cherishes them.  Thank you for helping our teachers and staff feel your appreciation for their exemplary work.

There are many outstanding celebrations of students’ accomplishments this time of year, and a true highlight was last week’s Global Scholars Celebration and Showcase.  Seven SUA seniors completed their Global Scholars requirements and presented their capstone projects.  Please see the article in this Bulletin for additional information.  Across the entire Ursuline Education Network, only 26 students completed the Global Scholars program, and impressively, seven are students at SUA.  These students will be honored at Graduation for their distinguished scholarship. Much appreciation goes to Mrs. Rachel Kemper, our Senior Director of Global and Service Learning, and all others who guided these students.

As we transition from the spring semester and exams, we will be starting our May Minimester on Monday, May 4.  After experiencing the December minimester courses for the first time, we are eager to build on the success and momentum with our May offerings.  These courses will continue the learning and growth we witnessed, along with thoughtful adjustments and improvements based on insights from our inaugural minimester experience.

Please watch your inbox for an email arriving on Thursday at 3 p.m., which will provide all of the details and reminders for our upcoming minimester courses.

Until then, we are praying for our students as they complete their final exams and look forward to AP exams and the May Minimester.  We are grateful for all of the ways that you support them at home.

Go Bulldogs!
