Dear Saint Ursula Community,

Last Friday our school community came together to celebrate the 113th birthday of Saint Ursula Academy with a schoolwide Mass.  As part of my onboarding process, I had the opportunity for a most enjoyable visit with Sister Jerome and Sister Margie, both Ursulines of Cincinnati who have long supported SUA.  While I had been on the Ursuline tour of their archives and learned about their history, there was nothing like sitting down and hearing the stories of these two remarkable women.  Their humble devotion to education in various roles at schools throughout their lives was inspiring.  Our conversation helped me realize more fully how much SUA is a gift that has been passed through generations due to the care and hard work of people who value it.  We - students, teachers and staff, family and friends - are those people who are entrusted to take care of SUA now.  In doing so, we honor the past and prepare for the young women who are yet to come.  Parents and caretakers, thank you for all that you do to make an SUA education possible for your daughter and to support her time here.

Lelia and I have more great news to share from the National Merit Scholarship program to complement last week’s announcement about SUA’s Semifinalists.  Senior Rachel Roell is distinguished as a Commended student for outstanding performance on the PSAT test in 2022.  This outstanding accomplishment represents Rachel’s exceptional academic skills and promise.

On a totally different note, if you have not had a chance to enjoy some of our fall sports, now is a good time.  The fall sports season is in full swing, and the weather is really pleasant for watching a game or competition.  While you can catch our student athletes in action almost any day of the week, this Saturday there is a Tailgate,1-3 pm, sponsored by Student Council for all students.  Bulldog spirit will be in full force with a beach theme!  Please encourage your daughter to attend; it is a great opportunity to connect with new and old friends.

Also, please remember to keep voting for Saint Ursula Academy for the Cincy Great Greater Cincinnati Non-Profit of the Year Award each day until October 1.  See below for details.

Enjoy the rest of your week.  Go Bulldogs!
