Dear Saint Ursula Community,

This week we are celebrating Catholic Schools Week!  Each day focuses on a different aspect of our Catholic school community:  from remembering our connections to other Catholic schools across the country to expressing appreciation for our current students, faculty, and staff to reflecting about vocations.  The girls are enjoying out-of-uniform, themed days as well as opportunities throughout the week to gather for Adoration, praying the rosary, and community bonding. Our Campus Ministry group, under the direction of Andrea Brunsman '90, is one of our largest student organizations on campus.  It does a great job helping our students live out their faith in ways that are fun and engaging for high school girls.  Friday of this week will feature a fan favorite around here:  Faithful Friends and Food.  As it sounds, the girls enjoy each other’s company, eat snacks, and have time together to focus on their faith.  Today Lelia and I want to thank YOU - our parents and caregivers - for providing a Catholic education for your daughter.  We know that doing so means different things for different families, and we cannot thank you enough for making a SUA a priority.

It is hard to believe that we have less than four months left in the school year.  This is the time of the year when our Counseling staff guides the students through the scheduling process for next school year.  There will be several important events and deadlines throughout the late winter/spring to make certain that all students plan courses that fulfill their four-year academic plan while allowing them to explore the many curricular options that are available here at SUA.  The process starts with academic advising meetings with each class:

Class of 2027:  Friday, February 2

Class of 2026:  Monday, February 5

Class of 2025:  Tuesday, February 6

On Friday, February 9, these grades will participate in an Elective Fair during a special assembly bell in order to learn more about the many electives that we offer.  Throughout the month of March, the counselors meet with each student individually to discuss their courses.  These are big decisions for our students, and we appreciate all of the ways that you help them to make thoughtful choices.

As much as our Counseling staff is committed to helping the students achieve their academic goals, they also attend to all aspects of our students’ life here at SUA, particularly their sense of well-being.  Last week our students participated in a SUA Connectedness Survey, a confidential survey to learn more about how connected students feel to their classmates, faculty, and the SUA community.  A summary of the stressors that SUA students feel will be shared so that the entire community can work together to mitigate stressors and be as mentally healthy as possible.  Growing up is complicated and challenging at times.  If you ever feel like your daughter needs some extra support, please reach out to our counseling and administrative team.  We are here to help!

Lelia and I look forward to seeing you at SUA Palooza!  Thank you for all of the ways that you support your daughter, SUA, and Catholic education.

Go Bulldogs!

Kathy
