Dear Saint Ursula Community,
A great benefit of being a Catholic school principal is the opportunity to develop my own faith through retreats offered by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. I was able to attend one of these on Monday that focused on our Catholic identity, who we are in Christ. The last reflective song was one that I had never heard before by a musician that I had never heard of, “Jesus in You” by Twila Paris. Its song lyrics put into words some great reminders of how to look for and see the light of Christ in our young women:
The eyes are young/ I won’t deny it/ But oh, the dream of tender youth/ The seed is small/ Do not despise it/ Put on the robe and speak the truth/ ‘Cause the one thing that matters/ When the day has turned to night/
Is a heart that knows the wonder/ Of the mercy and the light/
I can see Jesus in you/ I can see His Love on your face
I love this concept of “seeing Jesus in you” and “His love on your face.” Each week holds so many opportunities to see Jesus in our students: sometimes it looks like the amazing performances of our talented students in Clue or the fun that the students had at our spring pep rally last Friday. Other times it looks like Jesus who knows our human struggles as our girls navigate the challenges of growing up. At all times, it is a helpful reminder to look for Jesus in each other. Let’s face it: sometimes it is very difficult to guide young people as parents and teachers, and we can all bring a little more patience and compassion if we develop these spiritual eyes.
As we celebrate the Class of 2024, please join us in extending our congratulations to the following students who have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their four years of high school:
Saint Ursula Academy is very proud of the academic achievements of Grayson and Maddie!
Looking at the week ahead during this busy time of year, here are a few reminders:
Have a great week. Go Bulldogs!
