Dear SUA Community,
There is some outstanding news to share! Two members of our Class of 2025 earned the distinction of being named National Merit Semifinalists. Please join me in congratulating Anna Hamant and Eleanor Smith on this tremendous accomplishment. From the 1.3 million students who took the qualifying PSAT/NMSQT, there are only 16,000 Semifinalists in the nation. Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors.
In addition, three members of the Class of 2025 were recognized as Commended students for their outstanding performance on the PSAT: Zoey Jacobs, Olivia Lyons, and a student who would prefer to remain anonymous. These recognitions represent their extraordinary academic achievements and promise. We are so proud of all of these students!
On a totally different note, we want to share some information about our after-school supervision program. We know and appreciate that students and their families are trying to juggle many different schedules. Sometimes it feels like it takes the logistical skills of an air traffic controller to coordinate all of the activities and pick-ups, particularly when multiple children, different schools, and parents’ work schedules are involved. We want to be sensitive to those realities, and we love that our students enjoy spending time on campus.
On Monday-Thursday we have supervision in the Keller Center until 5 pm. Our beloved crossing guard stays with the students and checks in with them as they wait for rides and get started on homework. We ask that students are picked up by 5 pm if they are not involved in a sport or activity as that is when our supervision ends. On Friday campus clears out pretty early, so there is no after-school supervision. Please plan to pick up students by 3:30 pm on Fridays. We appreciate your help with this matter.
If you haven’t had a chance yet, now is a great time to check out some of our six athletics teams that are now competing in the fall season. Game details are available on the SUA website. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Go Bulldogs!
