Dear SUA Community,
While the Parent Bulletin arrives in inboxes on Wednesday at 3 pm each week, we have an internal deadline, and I am writing this letter on the eve of Election Day. It is interesting to anticipate that the direction of this Presidential election, as well as other state and local issues, may well be more clear when you receive the letter. In my Sunday Message to the students, we reminded them that civility and respect are fundamental to our core values at SUA. We can agree or disagree in a way that upholds our Ursuline values of dignity and diversity. These words about our Ursuline core value of diversity are a great reminder of how we can conduct ourselves with Christ-centeredness this week: “As a community, we must embrace each other, sharing and celebrating our differences to strengthen a respectful and inclusive environment.”
It is an especially great week to be a Bulldog with these two exciting events:
First, SUA Volleyball is going to State! The team will play in the State Semifinals on Thursday evening. Kelly Powers, our Athletic Director, sent an email to all students and parents with details about the game, tickets, a student bus option, and spirit activities. This is the first time in 21 years that our volleyball team has gone to State! We hope that you will also be able to join us for the game. The volleyball team is exciting to watch, and the school spirit is contagious and so much fun.
With an 8 pm game time on Thursday at Kettering Fairmont High School, we know it will be a late night for students who want to attend the game. As Kelly outlined, we have a late start planned for Friday morning: classes will start at 10 am. We appreciate your flexibility in accommodating this late start on Friday. The school building will open at its normal time, and students are welcome to arrive then if that works best with your family’s schedule.
Second, we are looking forward to sharing our minimester options for '25-'26 with students this Friday, Nov. 8 during their Gold Bell! As you know, we have an outstanding faculty at SUA. We have provided them with resources and some high quality professional development; then, we have given them the time and space to incorporate their expertise in curricular and instructional strategies. The results are spectacular opportunities for students in the minimester courses that our faculty is developing.
We can’t wait to introduce these minimester options to parents/guardians at our VIRTUAL information session on Monday, November 11, at 7 pm. Please use this link to connect to our virtual meeting. Several teachers from our Schedule Liaison Committee will be joining us to preview some of the experiential learning opportunities that they are in the process of developing for the minimesters.
Thanks, as always, for all of the ways that you support your daughter and our school.
Go Bulldogs!
Kathy
