Dear SUA Community,
It has been an exciting couple of weeks as we cheered for our SUA volleyball team who advanced to the State Finals and WON! We are full of happiness and pride for our players and their head coach Gretchen Krumdieck '98. Anyone who was able to watch one of the games observed strong athleticism and an even stronger bond among the volleyball players. The school spirit coming from the stands was non-stop.
One of the great things about accomplishments like these are the memories that they create for the community. Here are a few memories that captured the SUA spirit from my vantage point: three student buses on the way to the Semi-finals sending each other videos of dueling cheers, our student section at the Finals praying the Our Father together, the team joining together in pure joy on the court after the winning point, Kairos 126 having a watch party on their retreat, the team leading the victory cheer in front of the student section and concluding with “A New Dawn.” Yesterday we came together for a pep rally, and we announced that Monday, December 2 will be a day off of school as is tradition when a team wins a state championship. There were many cheers for that news as well!
Amid all of this excitement, we introduced our minimester options to students in grades 9-11 last Friday. Many thanks to the nearly 100 parents/guardians who joined us virtually on Monday evening for our new schedule follow-up meeting. We are pleased to share with you this Minimester Guidebook that outlines all of the courses that will be offered in 2025-2026.
If you were not able to attend the meeting, the introductory pages to the Guidebook reviews much of the information that we covered. Additionally, the SUA website includes a summary of the new schedule and a video introducing its features; both are great resources for learning about the new schedule. Our teachers are developing these minimester courses based on their content area expertise, knowledge of highly effective instructional strategies, creativity, and love for their students. We are so proud of their work and enthused about the tremendous opportunities that they create for students. Please take time to review the Minimester Guidebook and talk with your daughter about what options she is considering.
Go Bulldogs!
