“We are all in this together”

Date: December 3, 2024
Reading Time: 2 minutes

There is an old saying that we all have 6 degrees of separation from one another. That means that any person on Earth can be connected to any other person through a chain of acquaintances with no more than six intermediary people, essentially saying that everyone is only six "friend of a friend" connections away from each other; Our world is surprisingly interconnected. It simply means “We are all in this together”.

Our students are building a network each day with people who are like them... and unlike them. They recognize they have to forge their path with uncertainty but know they have a support system that will be there if or when they fall. There is a sisterhood of inclusion at SUA, and they have come to understand they are not in this by themselves. It takes a village and no matter how the world looks “We are all in this together”.

Inclusion and being a part of something greater than ourselves is more important than ever as we maneuver through this thing called life. Recognizing our interconnectedness can be challening as adults, so you can imagine what it may be like for our daughters who are in new and unfamiliar territory as they grow into being thinkers, leaders, nurtures and prophets.

The holidays are approaching and we will gather together to ask the Lord's blessings, giving thanks for all the gifts He has bestowed upon us. Jesus said love thy neighbor as yourself. So this holiday, let's reflect on Jesus' words and look across the table and across the aisle to remember His mercy and grace. He came that we might have everlasting life and have it more abundantly. We must live his Word and seek to see each others gifts and what we share in common; “We are ALL in this together”.

Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa. Thank you for all you do in support of Saint Ursula Academy.
