Dear SUA Community,

This is a big week at Saint Ursula Academy!  We celebrated the Feast of Saint Angela with a schoolwide Mass on Monday to kick-off Catholic Schools Week.  The timing of Saint Angela’s Feast Day with Catholic Schools Week could not have been better as we had time to reflect on how that amazing woman’s passion for God and her courageous leadership for women resulted in the Ursuline tradition that is so integral to Saint Ursula Academy.

The week features a lot of fun activities to appreciate our students, faculty and staff, and the overall benefits of attending a Catholic school.  Our students will enjoy “treats” such as ice cream at lunch and special themed out-of-uniform days while we will honor our amazing faculty and staff with an appreciation lunch.  We also want to thank you as parents and guardians for investing in your daughter’s Catholic education.  Lelia and I are so grateful that you partner with us for your child’s education and faith development.

This week has caused me to reflect again about what I most value about working at a Catholic school. I keep coming back to a thought that Andrea Brunsman, our Campus Minster, shared with the freshmen and juniors at their Communion Service on Friday.  She reminded the students that God’s love is so clear in each one of our students and that His love shines so brightly in the love and sisterhood that we share with each other.  I couldn't agree more!  It is an incredible blessing to me to be able to witness God’s love in this way.

On another note, this is a reminder that Friday is a Remote Learning Day for students.  Our teachers are in the process of developing some incredible new minimester courses for the students.  As much as we miss having our students in-person on Friday, we know that day is critical for planning these experiential learning opportunities.  We welcome students to come to school for all or part of the day to work on their learning activities if that structure and routine feels helpful; please reach out to Mrs. Fischesser to let us know if your daughter’s plans include working at school on Friday.

Finally, as we look ahead to next year, I want to share the Year-at-a-Glance Calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.  It is great to see how the semesters and minimesters fit so nicely within the school year schedule.  The school year calendar is posted on the SUA website under “Family Resources.”  Thank you for all of your efforts to plan family vacations and activities around school days.

Happy Catholic Schools Week!  Go Bulldogs!

Kathy
