College Information Night at SUA is October 3 from 6-8pm at the Keller Student Center for families of students in grades 9, 10, 11. Topics to be covered: The application process, discovering a major, finding your college fit, financial aid, NCAA eligibility for athletics, college entrance testing and much more. The event is structured as a series of individual workshops for you attend, based on your daughter’s interests and needs! RSVP HERE!

Parent of Seniors:

  • Application Fests at lunch began today! All seniors are welcome to come to the Counseling Welcome Center during App Fests to get help on college applications or ask any questions they may have! Next Application Fests are: 10/7, 10/23, 10/30. Senior College Check-Ins with Counselors are beginning to wrap up but we are always an email or phone call away if you have any questions!
  • Seniors were emailed information about the CSS Profile this week. Who Should Complete the CSS Profile? If your daughter is applying to schools that require it for their own financial aid distribution, you should complete the CSS Profile. Many of these schools offer substantial financial aid, so submitting the CSS Profile could increase your chances of receiving more support. Be sure to check each college's financial aid website for specific requirements. The CSS Profile opens October 1. CSS Profile deadlines vary by school, so check the requirements for each college on your list. There is a fee to submit the CSS Profile to each school that will need it, but fee waivers are available for eligible students. The cost is $25 for the first college, and $16 per additional college. Visit the College Board CSS Profile website for more details, video tutorials, and to start your application after it opens on October 1. As a reminder, FAFSA is different from the CSS Profile, is free to complete, and opens in December.
  • All seniors will complete a Job Shadow as a requirement for Faith In Action. Last Friday, all seniors learned about the SUA AMP (Alumnae Mentoring Program) - participation in this program would make securing a job shadow really easy for your senior! She is also welcome to set up one up herself.

Parents of Sophomores:

  • On September 27, all sophomores will receive the SOS Signs of Suicide training during Gold Bell.
  • On October 2 during Wednesday Programming, all sophomores will meet with the counseling department to prepare for the Oct 15 digital PSAT here at school. The PSAT is a practice/preparation for college admissions testing that is not sent anywhere!
