As we come to the end of the first quarter, we want to give you an update on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work that is happening at Saint Ursula Academy among the faculty, staff, students, and the Board of Trustees.
Saint Ursula Academy has identified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as a top focus in its 5-year Long Range Strategic Plan that began in 2018 (LRSP). The LRSP guides SUA by identifying our top institutional goals and opportunities. We are in the second year of that plan and have recently created an LRSP progress report. The most recent progress report is now available on our school website.
We are also in the process of developing a new and improved Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion section of our website. Watch for that soon!
Beginning Monday, we will kick off a student-driven initiative to strengthen the SUA sisterhood. The girls will learn about a new SUA Student Honor Code that will call each student to reject all forms of racism as they work to become Academy Alum who model the roles of Thinker, Leader, Nurturer, Prophet. While signing the Student Honor Code is not required, the girls who created the Code and school leaders are hopeful each student will choose to participate in this initiative as we work towards a more inclusive and anti-racist school community. It will begin with the freshmen in their Zero Bell. Each class will learn about this initiative in their designated Zero Bell session over the next week. Your daughter may share details with you after the presentation.
We look forward to sharing more information as the school year continues.
