Greetings from the Diversity Office
My name is Toilynn O’Neal Turner, Diversity Director at Saint Ursula Academy. SUA welcomes and embraces the diversity of our community and is committed to growing and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment where all voices are heard and respected. I invite you to explore the two parent organizations and programs that directly support our school diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Feel free to become engaged with either organization and our programs, meet with me, or send a note to let me know your thoughts or questions. I look forward to seeing you at one of our many upcoming meetings, programs, and working together to advance our welcoming culture at SUA.
Join me and the SUA school leadership on September 15 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm for a Virtual Informational Meeting for Parents about our diversity programs and organizations. We will also share how your daughters can get involved in programs and activities that help them learn and build sisterhood and leadership skills. Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 - October 15
Throughout the month of September and October, SUA will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! This year, the student Hispanic and Latina Organizations (HALO), in collaboration with other diversity and social justice organizations, want to commemorate Hispanic and Latin American culture and create a more inclusive and multicultural school environment. To kick off the celebration, all students will get to hear alumna Diana Maria Riva speak about her journey and our Academy Alum themes during Zero Bell programming.
Diana-Maria Riva is an American actress. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a 1987 graduate of the Saint Ursula Academy and University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music with a BFA and MFA in Theater Performance. Riva made her acting debut in the 1996 television series Common Law. Additional television credits include guest appearances in Murder One, Party of Five, The X Files, NYPD Blue, The Drew Carey Show, Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI, Less Than Perfect and Castle. Riva had recurring roles in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, The West Wing, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip; she was a lead performer in the summer 2007 series Side Order of Life. Riva starred as Lieutenant Ana Ruiz in the 2010 FOX series The Good Guys. She also starred as the mother-in-law of Rob Schneider's title character in the CBS sitcom ¡Rob!. In 2016 she joined the cast of Man with a Plan as Mrs. Rodriguez.
We are looking forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month within our community.
