FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL

Date: August 1, 2023
Reading Time: 3 minutes

The first day of school for all grades is Wednesday, August 9th! We can’t wait to welcome our new students and the Class of 2027 to the Saint Ursula Academy community.  Below is some helpful information to make sure that we all get off to a great start.

Class of 2024 and Class of 2027 have required events on campus on Tuesday, August 7.  Details are included in the Back to School information located in the Family Resource Section on our website.

Also, don’t forget about Picture Day on Monday, August 7th, in the library, for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  Please refer to the handout for the specific time.  Pictures can be ordered online using the link located in the Family Resource section on our website.

  • Two-Week Calendar:  here is the updated two-week calendar that includes the daily schedule.  Mrs. Restle will send the students a Sunday Newsletter, starting on August 6, with a link to the two-week calendar and any announcements and information for the week.  Students can access the two-week calendar on the Student Intranet. Please encourage your daughter(s) to read this weekly information.
    • New Family Welcome - REQUIRED EVENT for Class of 2027 and Transfer Parents/Guardians and Incoming Students -  Monday, August 7 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Keller Student Center.
    • Dawg Day is Friday, August 11!
    • First School Mass of the year is Tuesday, August 15, to celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Mass attire is required (full uniform and cardigan).
  • Bell Schedule:  SUA will follow a slightly different Bell Schedule for the 2023-2024 school year.  This modified time for the 5th bell and lunch will provide a designated block of time for pause in the morning, and a little extra time for club and organization time during lunch.
    • It is always a good idea for students to have their updated schedule handy on paper or saved to their phones for the first days of school.
  • Parent Resource Guide: Next week at the August 7th New Family Welcome event, new parents will receive your Parent Resource Guide binder. At least one parent/guardian from each family is required to attend.
  • 2023-2024 Parent/Student Handbook:  The handbook became available on August 1 and is accessible on the Family Resources page of the SUA website.  A form will be added to your FinalForms account for you to sign and verify that you have read the Handbook.  If you would like a hard copy of the handbook, you can request one from Betsy Bissmeyer (bbissmeyer@saintursula.org).
  • Pick up and drop off information:  Students will have access to the buildings on school days from 7:15 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Students should not be dropped off prior to that time. Similarly, students should be picked up prior to 5:00 p.m.  In the event that a student is in the building after 5:00 p.m., she should wait in the Keller Student Center.  If a student drives to school and has practice after school; either in the gym, on the field, or in the theater, she should move her car close to her practice facility immediately after school.
