SERVICE, EQUITY, and GLOBAL EDUCATION: Innerview Service Platform, Service Learning and DEI

Innerview Service Platform:

This year we are launching the Innerview Platform to help students sign up and keep track of their service to the school and service to the community. Each student was sent an email with log-in information and they created an account with their SUA email. We have emphasized that we paid an extra fee to have our students' accounts private, but students MUST choose the private setting in their profile. Help us by reminding your daughter to do this! Thanks in advance.

We are excited about this new platform as it connects service and outreach work to a global lens by connecting each activity to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, students can print and send professional looking portfolios to show all of their community involvement to colleges and employers through their Innerview account.

SERVICE-LEARNING UPDATE:

Service-learning is an integral part of the SUA student experience. This past week, senior Geraldina Jeronimo Simon donated two beautiful pieces of art to Su Casa Hispanic Center (part of Catholic Charities) that she created in her independent drawing class. She presented the art at the Su Casa annual gala this past weekend to an audience of 250, where she shared her family’s story of coming to the United States from Guatemala. Her art will hang on the walls of Su Casa to spread dignity, confidence, and hope to its clients. Congratulations, Geraldina!

Students in Spanish Honor Society met in Ms. Smith’s classroom to pack thirty self-care bags for women and children at Casa de Paz shelter. Students donated items for women (like lotions, nail polish, face masks, and cozy socks) and children (like fidget toys, LED drawing boards, and water bottles), and included hand written messages of support in Spanish to each of the residents. Bravo, SHS, on another great project to support our neighbors!
