We are proud to say that we have over 200 students participating in regular community service starting in the next week through SOS and BB. Our Student Outreach Services (SOS) is an SUA organization providing opportunities for students to serve non-profit agencies in the Greater Cincinnati area once a month on weekends or after school from September through May. Our Bulldog Buddies (BB) weekly tutoring program allows SUA students to tutor at local elementary schools and starts this week and goes through May as well.

Saint Ursula Academy, in collaboration with The Ursuline Education Network (UEN), offers the opportunity for our students to earn a Global Scholars Certificate. In this inaugural year for Global Scholars at SUA, students who have demonstrated a strong interest in global citizenship and apply for the program will complete curricular studies with a global focus and engage in co-curricular activities and experiences that foster the development of global competencies. We kicked off our first cohort of Global Scholars this year at SUA with 42 total students who are pursuing this distinction in the Classes of 2026 and 2025.
The Global Scholars Certificate validates a student’s deliberate pursuit of a global education in these four domains of Global Competence:

Country | RECETAS/ RECIPES |
Argentina | Instead of coffee, try having mate. Get a mate gourd and fill it ¾ of the way with mate leaves (you can get this from Jungle Jim’s). Tilt the gourd to the side and put a sifting straw (la bombilla) in it. Add hot water, close to straw, until you start seeing the water at the top. (I like adding sugar to water as the mate is bitter. Go with personal preference). Let it sit for a bit, then sip and spit out the first sip as it’s very strong. This is a communal drink, but you don’t have to do this. The way is you drink it all, then it gets filled again for the next person. Otherwise, you can drink it alone. When finished drinking mate, you give it back to “el cebador”, the server, and you say thank you to them. Now you will no longer be served mate. |
