The Department of Service, Equity, and Global Education welcomes you to 2024-25 School Year! Our programs are grounded in the Ursuline core values of community, compassion, justice, integrity, and excellence. We believe in inspiring students to leave their comfort zone to serve those marginalized in our society, create a culture of inclusion and work towards achieving a more just and sustainable global world.
Opportunities through our department
On September 6th, students will attend an assembly to explain these various opportunities. After these assemblies, the students can begin to sign up.
- Big Surprises Service Events: One time service opportunities through each class. These events will be promoted at class meetings and through email. Examples of these events area neighborhood clean up, a toy drive, and hosting a dance for adults with disabilities.
- Bulldog Buddies: A program at SUA where SUA tutors meet with local elementary students to do homework help Monday through Thursday at elementary school locations. (Students can sign up on 9/7.)
- Hands Across Campus: An organization for students who have an interest, identify with, or want to be an ally for different cultural groups. Their goal is to help SUA students feel like they belong, providing a space to be themselves and learn more about other cultural groups. They strive to celebrate and recognize different Heritage Months together, as well as to make an impact at SUA.
- Student Outreach Services (SOS): A student led service group where students do monthly service at one of 12 different sites throughout the entire school year. Examples of service sites are: Ronald McDonald, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Boniface Food Pantry, and Crayons to Computers. (Students can sign up on 9/7.)
- Social Justice Club: Using the pillars of Catholic Social Teaching, these club members will raise awareness, take action, and respond to issues of justice locally and globally. This group is open to all students and meets during club bells. The first meeting is September 9!
- Bulldog Boost Fair Trade Coffee Shop: The Bulldog Boost is a student run coffee shop located in the back entrance area of our Keller Student Center. It is part of our initiative on campus to educate our students about intentional and ethical purchasing. What exactly is fairly traded coffee, CLICK HERE to learn more. The Bulldog Boost is open during lunch hours and will open after Labor Day.
