Spring Sports In Action
The SUA lacrosse teams opened up the season last week with a GGCL conference game against Seton and then a non-conference match against Seven Hills. The varsity squad dropped the first game to Seton but rebounded with an 8 - 6 victory over Seven Hills. The reserve squad put 10 goals on the scoreboard and prevented their opponents from scoring more than 4 goals in each of their victories. The lacrosse team played its second GGCL match last night against Ursuline. Want to know how they did? The softball team scored 9 runs and played solid defense in their 9 - 7 victory over Walnut Hills in the scrimmage last week. Alli Shattuck '23 threw 6 strikeouts in 4 innings, while 6 different Bulldogs each had one hit to help the offensive effort. The softball team opens up GGCL play tonight with a game against Mercy McAuley.
Members of the track and field team ran at the LaSalle Legends Track and Field Meet last Saturday. The team finished 6th overall out of 10 teams. Scoring points for the Bulldogs were Beazy Tierney '24 (4th place 800m run), Brooke Hunstad '23 (5th place 800m run), Grace Pavloff '23 (6th place 800m run), Kayleigh Zimmer '24 (8th place 3200m run), Addison Brus '23 (5th place high jump), Anna Geiger '23 (7th place long jump), Grace Scheve '21 (8th place long jump), Avery Stewart '22 (2nd place 3200m run), Ellen Scott' 22 (4th place 800m run). Also scoring for the Bulldogs were three of our four relay teams: Abby Fermann '23, Maggie Braun '23, Maddie Gillock '22, and Audrey Kirwin '21 placed 4th in the 4x800; Reagan Armbruster '23, Rylie Postel '23, Grace Scheve '21, and Kennedy Rugless '23 placed 5th in the 4x200; and Ellen Scott '22, Rowan Fox '24, Maddie Edmonson '24, and Gigi Winter '24 placed 4th in the 4x400.
